Artist's Comments

Another image from the past,...done in the early 80's, I was always carrying my drawing board around with me and box of colored pastels, loved to walk around Golden Gate Park here in San Francisco. There are many bronze statues there. This one is in the area around the DeYoung museum and Steinhart Aquarium.

These were crusty old statues of Don Quixote and Sancho Panza looking up at a bust of Cervantes. I climbed up on the rock they're mounted to and did this quick sketch from an angle the public doesn't normally see. Colored pastel on black cover stock.

Cervantes' creations live on in Don Quixote by arterie. I absolutely love everything by this amazing artist. I read Don Quixote and studied Cervantes a few years back so I can appreciate this piece on many levels. I hope you can too. (Selected by $matteo) (Featured by °matteo)

Very beautiful pastel work. I generally hate pastels, but this piece goes so far beyond any of that. Nice.

Thank you for telling us the medium used. I wish more people would. It makes me aware of the work that went into the piece. I love this drawing. The angle you've captured here is wonderful, giving the viewers a special gift, whether they realize it or not. Very well done. :D (Big Grin)

that's really well done. and it's aged too;) (Wink)
I love how you captured more than just the main focus. There's cars lining the street, a one-way sign, and the rocks...it's altogether a great piece.
I like it a lot Thumbs Up

yeah this is amazing work. You have captured the form of the states very well indeed, and I really like the fact that you went from the less common POV.

If I lived there, and had seen the statue from the normal angle a lot this would be even cooler.

Great work +

It is very evident the level of work that you put into this piece. The choice of pastel colors moves the sketch from reality (that is if you used colors to acturate to what they were in real life) to that of the fantasy realm (which is appropriate and fitting to the story of Don Quixote).
And I like that you kept in the signs of modern day (the cars and street signs ) in the sketch instead of removing them.
